This is no time for complacency
Man, I got sooo tired after all the work last year. It was so fine to celebrate with the rest of the world when Obama got elected. I felt so much safer.

Now, we've had a couple of months and it is just ginormous what he has accomplished. I'll admit that I have VEHEMENTLY disagreed with some of the stuff that has come out of the White House in the last couple of months. I've also rejoiced, and more so. I just think about where we were eight years ago. The progress that has been made to righting the Bush wrongs just makes me want to shout "Yesss!"

Last year, I received emails from lots of wingers. This year, I'm getting emails from people who were silent on their Republican tendencies before the election.

Last week, I went to a tea party thingy. One of the local right-wing talk show hosts whipped the large crowd into a froth, with a remorseful admission regarding the largeness of his, ahem, vehicle being the "American way, people." I never did hear an explanation of how roads, water projects, sewers, or other public engineering projects would get paid for without taxes. The largely "conservative" and Libertarian crowd didn't ask.

Several thousand people attended. There were not, however, as many of them as were at the antiwar protest at the same place after the beginning of the Iraqi War.

We are powerful and must stay active to support our progressive agenda. Never take for granted the sheepleness of some people nor underestimate the depths to which Republicans can dive. Those people really believe Rush, and there are a lot of them.

1. really
Sometimes I think Republicans believe money comes out of thin air. You have to trim your budget to help others.

3. obligatory lou reed lyrics interlude

This is no time for Celebration
this is no time for Shaking Heads
This is no time for Backslapping
this is no time for Marching Bands
This is no time for Optimism
this is no time for Endless Thought
This is no time for my country Right or Wrong
remember what that brought
There is no time
there is no time
There is no time
there is no time
This is no time for Congratulations
this is no time to Turn Your Back
This is no time for Circumlocution
this is no time for Learned Speech
This is no time to Count Your Blessings
this is no time for Private Gain
This is no time to Put Up or Shut Up
it won't no time to come back this way again
There is no time
there is no time
There is no time
there is no time
This is no time to Swallow Anger
this is no time to Ignore Hate
This is no time to be Acting Frivolous
because the time is getting late
This is no time for Private Vendettas
this is no time to not know who you are
Self knowledge is a dangerous thing
the freedom of who you are
This is no time to Ignore Warnings
this is no time to Clear the Plate
Let's not be sorry after the fact
and let the past become out fate
There is no time
there is no time
There is no time
there is no time
This is no time to turn away and drink
or smoke some vials of crack
This is a time to gather force
and take dead aim and Attack
This is no time for Celebration
this is no time for Saluting Flags
This is no time for Inner Searchings
the future is at head
This is no time for Phony Rhetoric
this is no time for Political Speech
This is a time for Action
because the future's Within Reach
This is the time
this is the time
This is the time
because there is no time
There is no time
there is no time
There is no time
there is no time

4. Yup. Like about 22-26 percent of the population. The loud, the few, the Rush
disciple backwash.
Don't fall into the trap of not celebrating our majority, and rubbing noses in it every chance you get.

5. The loud are about 22-26 percent
And they are working hard to keep the divisiveness going. Not for a minute do I let the loud blame Obama. I'll always be a facts girl, and we all have to keep up and be able to answer the bs. For the former quiet who are not so quiet now, we have to persuade with logic and facts. The loud are hopeless.
