On Tolerance

Nowadays whenever a thinking person upbraids a conservative for saying something stupid, bigoted, or racist, it will only be a matter of minutes before the conservative or one of its friends chimes in with (and this is pretty much an exact quote) "Durr, whatever happened to the party of tolerance? Hurr hurr!"
Well, to answer that question, we kind of got the impression that conservatives weren't very keen on tolerance, as they seemed to mock and denigrate it whenever the subject came up. Since we libruls are all about treating people the way the want to be treated, we decided (there was a vote and everything!) to honor the conservatives' wishes and not show their barbaric fundie bullshit any tolerance.
Now it seems like the conservatives are waking up to find that they would like some tolerance... but it doesn't seem very convincing. So, any lurkers out there, if you would like the rest of us to believe that you're come around to the ways of tolerance, you're going to have to demonstrate it by showing some tolerance yourselves. Quit with the bigotry and racism, and then maybe others will be inclined to not call you on your own foibles.
