Suspect in Sandra Cantu murder also linked with another missing girl
this lady is sick and needs to be put away, it's a shame the police didn't investigate this and arrest her in January, Sandra Cantu would more than likely be alive today.....

1. I read about this right after her arrest
I read about this right after her arrest on some other forum and listened to the telephone interview she gave the local reporter that led to the breaking of the Cantu case. This incident was spoken about briefly in the phone interview and I wondered why none of the bigger news organizations were talking about it. Like it just fell through the cracks. Weird.

Anyways - in the phone interview she told the reporter that it was some sort of misunderstanding. That the little girls grandmother had given her permission to take the child to the park and that she had done so three times that week. Huckaby seems to be an accomplished liar and before the disappearance of Sandra Cantu probably had a tremendous advantage over the other little girls mother in terms of dealing with the police. On the one hand you've got a mother that smells like booze and isn't aware that her child has already been to the park twice this week with her "kidnapper", and on the other hand you have a sober Sunday school teacher and granddaughter of the local minister claiming something as innocent as taking two little girls to the park to play.

Yes, the police should have looked into her background and at least seen that she had an arrest record. Not that it would have indicated violence or child endangerment, but it might have been enough to clue them in to her not being exactly what she seemed. I'm sure they feel a lot of grief now for not being able to foresee that a small routine matter was actually something more sinister. I'm sure that this previous incident did help them to hone in on Huckaby as a suspect early on in the Cantu case.

And just to play devil's advocate - even if they had investigated further and possibly even brought charges I doubt anything would have played out much differently than it ultimately did. Even with a dead little girl found in her suitcase and her flaky stories there were people in her community and all over the country proclaiming her innocence. Hell, there were lots of DU posters making claims like "women like that don't do crimes like this". Can you imagine trying to prosecute her for taking a "boozey" moms child to the park? Drugs in the child's system? Surely that came from the mom or her friends carelessness and not from the find upstanding Sunday school teacher...

Sad and frustrating but often the way it goes.

5. What I don't understand is....didn't police ask this child about any drug or anything she ate/drank?

Even if it was something that slipped into a drink, they could have asked her what she ate/drank during those 4 hours, before or after, the little girl is 7, she would more than likely remember at the time.

Very bizarre case, looking at the facade, the lady would have been an unlikely suspect to rape/kill a child, but it was indeed a facade. In the highly astronomical chance that she is covering up for someone else, she sure best be spilling her beans and telling on someone. I don't think so, I think she did this all by herself, truly a sad situation, those poor children.

4. No, no man invovled I guess
yes, women can be pedophiles, it's not always men. It is not typical, but it does happen.
