US Threatens to Invade Eritrea

http://www.uruknet.de/?s1=1&p=53510&s2=19

"President Obama Cannot Afford to Look Weak on Terrorism"

The United States has reportedly threatened to invade Eritrea and subject it to "the same fate as Taliban-controlled Afghanistan in the wake of the September 11 attacks" for providing support to the al-Shabaab resistance movement in Somalia, which the US has since attempted to link with al-Qaeda. The Daily Telegraph quotes one source as saying "There are consequences for working with al-Shabaab when President Obama cannot afford to look weak on terrorism."

-snip of history-

Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki remains defiant, saying he will continue to oppose the Western-backed TNG’s attempt to assert control over the nation. "There is no government, there is not even a naiton of Somalia existing," the president insisted, calling for a peace conference in which all parties, including those branded by the US and Ethiopia as "extremists" would have a voice. "Peace is not guaranteed without a government agreed by all Somalis."

1. It's a bit of a dubious claim
The Telegraph (which does sometimes exaggerate things from anonymous sources) said:

President Obama's January inauguration was hit by FBI warnings about a potential suicide threat from 12 American citizens that had left Africa to infiltrate the US and disappeared.

Subsequently Washington quietly warned Eritrea, a former Italian colony which was occupied by Britain during the Second World War, it could suffer the same fate as Taliban-controlled Afghanistan in the wake of the September 11 attacks, if the plot was carried out.

"Eritrea has chosen the wrong path," said a source. "There are consequences for working with al-Shabaab when President Obama cannot afford to look weak on terrorism by not retaliating if there is an attack on the homeland."

so that says the US would invade if there was a terrorist attack inside the US that could be linked to al-Shabaab. Even if you accept the Telegraph report as true, that's not just 'we'll invade for supporting al-Shabaab'.
