It's time to ask the question...what did NSA/Cheney get on Obama?
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 12:10 PM by Atman
No one seems to have brought this up, yet most of us seem pretty certain that Harmon and Pelosi and Reid, et al, were blackmailed by Cheney's paranoia-fueled wiretap program. But Obama was a Senator, too. You don't think there is something on HIM, too? Doubtful. I like him, but no one gets to be his age without having said or done SOMETHING they wouldn't like out in the open.

Maybe Obama's approach is to stand back, not make himself a target, and hope that Holder (who doubtless has his own closet full of skeletons) or someone else will run with the torture inquiries. That was the whole point of the NSA blackmail program; get enough dirt on anyone of importance to keep them from talking or digging deeper. Why would Obama be any different? Or do you really think he's the messiah, as the right likes to claim we all do?

I wouldnt be surprised if it were true. But some people do think he is Jesus and can do wrong.

3. uh, Obama has to stand back. The president is NEVER supposed
to interfere in decisions by the JD on who to prosecute. And though I certainly don't think he's the Messiah or has superpowers, I do think he's the one with whip hand now.

4. Why do you sneak in the "messiah" meme at the very end? I call bullshit.

6. I agree.... that quip is not something anybody on the left would say

It's like calling it the "Democrat Party".

It's a dog whistle. When someone uses the term "messiah" to refer to Obama, they are outing themselves as a right-winger, in my opinion.

7. That's my take on it.
Of course, it could be a Naderite thing to say. I generally avoid them like the plague so I don't know if they use it or not.

8. Bullshit...ever heard of context?
I don't call him the messiah. I said very clearly that THE RIGHT always claims we (the left) think he is the messiah. I call bullshit on your calling bullshit.

Read what I wrote, not what you want to feign outrage about.

5. I'd say it's more likely they have shit on friends and colleagues
I don't think there's anything on Obama himself, else it would've come out in the election.

9. That's like saying they had something on Clinton. They throw everything and then lies at Dems.
If they had anything, you would have heard it all many times.

Mind you, it's not because they haven't spent millions trying, no doubt taxpayer millions!!

Was it NSA spying or RNC spying??

10. No offense, but that is such a silly theory.
The most likely explanation is the obvious one: Obama is having issues making good on his bold campaign promises in the face of strong opposition from beltway insiders who are not accustomed to rocking the boat.
