I Believe Bush Will Be Prosecuted
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 03:17 PM by mudesi
I think Obama is distancing himself from it for the obvious political reasons, yet he is the one who opened the door to it. Obama is playing chess, not checkers.

Watch.

EDIT!
Obama open to prosecution, probe of interrogations

1. I used to believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny
There were many posts like this two years ago, except then it was regarding impeachment, and the chess player was John Conyers.

2. I agree that the Harvard Law Prof is playing chess to everyone else's checkers.
I hope the checkmate move is nailing Bush and/or Cheney.

3. It will never happen....
The most you could hope for is that BushCo. will "officially" go down in history as wrong about everything and a criminal, which everyone knows now anyway.

Sorry, but even a lot of Democrats will feel uneasy about offering a U.S. President or U.S. Official on the world stage for prosecution. If you think the Right Wing is nasty, and without any morals now, just wait until one of them is prosecuted for war crimes.

11. Opening the can of worms would incriminate hallowed institutions that they all protect from...
Genuine "democratic interference."

4. Wishful thinking. If it gets too heavy they'll stage another conveniently timed "terror" attack
To redirect the public's focus...and what better way to shout down all those 'liberal wimps' who are "bitching" about "interrogation tactics."

5. I agree..
and I have never had a doubt some just don't get it because they are still playing pitty pat while the president is playing poker. They are not looking ahead. While we are taking care of this the Republicons will be fighting it because they are afraid what will come out about their involvement and some Dems are afraid for the same reasons.

6. that was my first though
but it would require a tremendous amount of political capital, this administration would need an overwhelming amount of public support. hopefully, picturing that fucking war criminal in court would be enough to make it happen. dailykos, moveon, huffington post, etc. all need to push this hard.

8. Blocking legal actions by victims of torture in court using the state secrets
privilege is a strange way to "open the door". If he is prosecuted, it will be because of all the people who have fought this battle for so long.

15. Because of his promise of transparency.
Can you explain why his Dept of Justice blocked torture victims' day in court? All he had to do was let his AG handle it in a way that didn't take away their day in court if he wanted to stand out of the way. The state secrets privilege wasn't invented to stop lawsuits from reaching the courts and thus its use in this case is an abuse of it.
