Checkers vs. Chess
First of all, I'm not even sure I get why this analogy keeps coming up. But nevermind that, I don't really care.

I'm just wondering if 1 or 2 days is really sufficient to have finished up the chessboard so that Obama is now in the "checkmate" position that everyone claimed he was after.

Really?

What substantially changed in the past, what? 48 hours? He moved all his pieces around the chessboard and finally (whew! that was hard work!) got them in the correct positions that he's now able to come out publically and claim that he's not really opposed to prosecutions?

Seriously - I want to know what happened, chess-wise, to allow this bold move.

Anyone? Buhler?

3. Cheney's big mouth....
maybe it will shut his mouth. I also think he has heard a lot of feedback about going forward with prosecution.

5. In this instance, the "chessplayer" was getting a lot of heat from the sidelines.
From all over the world, and domestically, about letting criminals slide.

6. Because Chess is about tactics, and checkers takes about
as much tactics as tic tac toe. If you can't see how things are unfolding to at least get some war criminals like judge Jay Bybee, Alberto Gonzales, Rove, and possibly but still doubtfully the DICK himself then I don't think anyone will be able to convince you till the day someone is convicted.

8. One or two days? Political chess is long-term & multidimensional....
See if this op-ed by Bob Herbert makes sense to you. It only scratches the surface.
