and 2. If Cheney wants memos released that prove that the torture yielded results that prevented further problems - isn't he in fact acknowledging that what they were doing was torture? Didn't he just implicate himself? (sorry that's question 3)

Cheney has gone on the TV machine and admitted over and over that he knew about the torture and he was in on the approval. Guess he thinks the interviews can't be used as evidence.

3. I think it's his consummate arrogance,

that he seriously and honestly believes he's above the law, that no one is going to pursue him, and that he can say and do whatever the fuck he wants.

I also think he's busy sending Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups a message - that he think the US is weak and it would be a good time to attack because this new President lacks balls.

Sounds nuts, maybe, but I do believe that vile fuck would pull shit like this, just to make himself look right - the big "AHA! I told you so!"
