The Tally Republicans have finally and utterly lost their damned minds.
This year's session isn't even over yet in Tallahassee and the Republicans in Tallahassee are having to dig a new sub-sub-basement so that they can go ever lower and sleazier:

1) We've had a bill this year to drug test the 1 out of 10 Floridians who are currently unemployed.

2) Dean Cannon (HD35) wants to drill off of Florida's beautiful beaches as if tourism in this state wasn't already 30% down.

3) They are making the FCAT worse.

4) They are passing a "Freedom to Steal the Election" bill to criminalize grass roots activism and make voting next to impossible for poor people in this state.

"I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it any more" - Howard Beale, Network 1976

I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.

We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!

We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.

It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."

Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.

I want you to get mad!

I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.

All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.

You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"

So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

"I'm as mad as hell,

and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"

3. I've been mad as hell for years - it doesn't do any good with the crowd of crooks here
And we who live in Leon County are a little tired of the rest of the state blaming it on "Tallahassee." Leon County is BLUE. Our representatives are Democratic. We hate the Repub a-holes the rest of the state sends up here to pollute our county. And the ones from the western Panhandle are the worst!

I can call my representatives and talk to them, but they are only two people from a tiny county.

I know - all you good Democrats from downstate and from the Panhandle are trying. At least you got the state to go for Obama last fall. But I do wish y'all could send more Democratic representatives up here to help out.

4. I've sent three: Randolph, Soto, and Sasso since 2006!
Orange County (Orlando) is certainly holding up our end of the bargain:

We won back 3 seats from the RPoF and gave one of those back between 2006 and 2008 for a net gain of 2.

In Congress we also flipped two seats Keller and Feeney have been replaced by Grayson and Kosmas - our Congressional delegation has gone from 1-3 to 3-1.

:bounce:

I'm not dissing Leon County, just the Republican weasels (an elephant is too noble a creature to be insulted by calling it a Republican) who migrate to Tallahassee for 5 months a year.

:)

5. Thank you for that!
I just get grief from family downstate (I am originally from Polk County :puke: ) about what "Tallahassee" does. So I've gotten somewhat reactive about it and tell them to quit sending the same pukes up here.

I'll try to make calls to reps this week - but I am on tons of meds right now and my attention span is really short. My shoulder surgery is scheduled for June 4 and until I heal from that I will be drugged up on a regular basis. It has kept me from getting back involved with the LCDEC and I miss it but I don't know how long it will be until I am fully functional again.

We're going to be losing State Senator Al Lawson next year to term limits and I want to volunteer for a candidate to take his place. I'm hoping Lorraine Ausley will run - she was an awesome State Representative until she term limited out. If she does not run, I'll campaign for whoever does.
