Matthews, why not just waterboard him until he says what you want?
Matthews is interviewing for CIA guy, Bob Baer. Baer is, by research and scientific study, an expert on the effectiveness of torture, including waterboarding.

Baer is unequivocal. Waterboarding (and all torture) does not work. It "uniformly produces inaccurate information".

Matthews asks the right wing gotcha: If you have a hgh value targeta nd you know another 9-11 is coming, do you at least try waterboarding? Baer remains unequivocal. No.

Matthews asks again. Baer is unmoved.

Third try. The ever calm Baer changes nothing.

Baer (former heavyweight CIA agent) makes another good point. If this actually *did* work, it **would** have been leaked by someone at the CIA just to protect themselves. And that hasn't happened.

NOTE: The headline for this thread is flippant and misleading. Matthews was asking the question to prove the point that, under no circumstances whatsoever, does waterboarding serve any good purpose.

4. And the Bushistas should consider the following point:
waterboarding a prisoner makes it just that much harder for Cheney to shoot the prisoner in the face.

Is it really nice to spoil the former-VP's aim?

6. No, no, against the law is no problem -- these are Republicans.
Illegal torture would only be a problem if done by Democrats.

7. You might change that headline ......
It's OK to be pro-Tweety - he's doing the right thing.

There's no one who knows this business better than Bob Baer. It all ends with him. If he says "No," it's "No." The End.

8. I "pre-changed" the headline
Look at the end of the OP ........

In fact, the entire OP was complimentary.

11. I know,
and having watched that interview - especially after that dickwad Ensign - Tweety is really coming down hard on the right side.

This is one of those times when I like Tweety.

Next week, he'll do something that will piss me off, and the cycle will start all over again..........................................

as long as you keep taking Fukidol.

13. I admire Baer, but I think he erred in one statement
When discussing the Manchurian Candidate, he mistakenly said that the difference between that scenario and the current one is that *we* were trying to get the truth, not false confessions.

But according to the Senate report released yesterday, there are strong indications that indeed the intent was to obtain false info, to wit, the connection between 9/11 and Iraq.

15. I caught that too, and let it slide with the situational ambiguity .....
presumptive vs assumptive

It all depends on what your point of view is.

I guess I lean to what you aver.
