Please...

Just think about this... I have...

I personally am deathly afraid of snakes. If someone put me in a little box in complete darkness then put a snake in with me...and even if they told me it was not poisonous, I say whatever was necessary to get me out of the box and then I would be shaken for days... I believe that IS torture.

These people are NUTS

3. Who the hell is Cliff May?
And did he even bother to look at the statute?

(B) the administration or application, or threatened administration or application, of mind-altering substances or other procedures calculated to disrupt profoundly the senses or the personality;

7. Thanks.
The Bush Administration obviously saw that book as a "how-to" guide.

8. the confined space alone is torture
we're not talking about a jail cell here. They were so confined that they could barely move. The purpose was to cause muscle atrophy.

Adding one's phobia into the confined space adds more insult to injury at this point. It's not like they told the prisoner that it was a fly or grasshopper. The purpose was to scare the crap out of him because they knew his phobia.

Perhaps Cliff needs to pull a Hitchens and actually try it since he's incapable of understanding.

9. It is the only defense they can push..
I'm sure the Republicans will be out in force on a daily basis trying to convince the American people that 'harsh' interrogation techniques are not torture. They are already pointing to the memos as 'proof' of how careful, and cautious the government was in not allowing these techniques to rise to the level of torture, rather than the fact that the only reason these memos exist, is to attempt to provide a thin veneer of legality for what the entire world views as torture.
