Prosecute everyone. Everyone. These people are monsters.

I've never seen such evil in my lifetime.

1. And don't forget, the wiretapping was to blackmail everyone into going along.
You're absolutely correct. These people are criminals of the highest (or is that lowest?) order.

3. I've been thinking about that....
but these people weren't even near Iraq, were they? They knew there was no justification to be found to go into Iraq. Plus they tortured there too. These people are just fucked up, egomaniacs, that got their jollies by engaging in the most evil inhumane activities possible. They got no information and continued, and intensified the torture for years.

4. The torture was to get false confessions. They didn't want truth.

7. But they didn't use 'confessions'
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 07:50 PM by stillcool
if they had anything to back up any assertions about Iraq they would have used it, no? The only thing they had was that Atta guy.

edit:..I just read the article that referenced the official stating this...mea culpa..you were right.

13. Again I know so fucking dumbfounding!
So scary. The truth was known. Iraq wasn't linked to Bin Laden. They knew. They wanted to torture to get lies to justify the means.

12. It all just keeps getting more vomit worthy doesn't it?
And some here would ever justify torture-do you not realize that the Cheney/Bush/Rice/Rumsfeld's of the world would torture you too if it gave them what they wanted and they could get away with it? If you had the wrong name? Can you imagine? It would never be admitted to. You would be disappeared.

This country was one terrorist attack away from a South American hell hole style dictatorship. It's not about Abu Zubaydah, it's about how close it gets if we let them get away with it.

15. That's the number one take-away
SERE procedures were designed to elicit false confessions, NOT to gather intelligence. The cabal need to gin up more evidence to justify the illegal invasion of Iraq. It shows they're not incompetent, just plain evil.

They knew it risked inflaming the enemy. That's what they wanted - permanent state of war.

And don't think they were trying to hide it. They also know a government that tortures makes the citizens more compliant.
