Man cited after dog beaten, dies

Investigators have cited an Omaha man for animal cruelty after his neighbor's dog was beaten so severely it had to be euthanized.

The dog's owner, Catalina Snyder, told Nebraska Humane Society investigators that a neighbor knocked on her door Monday morning to complain that the dog was barking.

The black-and-white rat terrier named Pompoo had been tethered to a back porch at its owners' home near 75th and Howard Streets.

Snyder refused to answer the door and then heard the dog yelping. She then saw the man slam the dog into the ground repeatedly, investigators said.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian's clinic and euthanized. It had suffered a large amount of internal bleeding from the beating, according to the Humane Society.

9. A dog abuser in Central NY only got a 6 month sentence but people posted his name
all over the web so that for a long time, when a potential date or employer Googles his name it will follow him.

I hope this psycho gets a much longer sentence than that, but I also hope his name is ruined for life.

6. That is disgusting.
It is far beyond my comprehension that someone could do this. Poor Pompoo.

7. The dog owner sounds like a piece of work herself
She admits that the dog was tied up and barking. If she knew why the neighbor was there without answering the door then he must have been there to complain before. Then what? She stands inside and watches the fucker kill her dog?

I love animals and have four of them myself, but I live next to a bad dog owner and sometimes I'd like to go over and throw the owners (not the dog) on the ground a time or two. A bored, un-excercised, incessantly barking dog outside your window can drive you fucking batshit after a while.

8. That struck me also...
Our little Rat Terrier has 500 acres and uses them all. He's all muscle and heart and will run along side a tractor/horse/pickup all day long just to see where we're going. He only barks when someone he doesn't know pulls in the driveway or when he sees a demon out in the dark he needs to protect us from.

I can't really imagine a Rat Terrier tied up in a yard. The guy overreacted but like you I've been the victim of a poorly kept dog who constantly voices his displeasure. It makes neighbor relations very tough.

10. It's nice your little guy has room to run
500 acres is HUGE! Even if he did bark I doubt it would bother anyone.

We live in Pittsburgh and my neighbors house is only separated from mine by a few feet. They're very nice people who simply shouldn't own a dog. Their dog is some kind of big Alaskan/Husky mix that spends most of his days and nights tied to the back porch digging holes and barking his ass off.

11. We have a fenced in back yard

We had the fence put up right after we took possession of the house. Our two rat terriers & German short haired pointer are only outside a few minutes at a time. We thought the fence was to keep other animals like raccoons from bothering our dogs. Luka did get to a raccoon once when it was dark. We didn't see the raccoon, but Luka did. We never thought a person would harm a dog in it's own yard. Times are changing I guess.
