He'll need the money to pay his lawyers.

Weekly Standard editor William Kristol to receive a 2009 Bradley Prize

The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation in Milwaukee has announced that one of four 2009 Bradley Prizes will be awarded to William Kristol, founding editor of The Weekly Standard, a FOX News contributor, and chairman of National Affairs, Inc. Kristol served as chief of staff to Vice President Dan Quayle and U.S. Secretary of Education William Bennett and led the Project for the Republican Future, which helped shape the strategy for the Republican victory in the 1994 congressional elections.

Kristol will be presented the award during a ceremony to be held at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, June 3. Each award carries a stipend of $250,000.

"The Bradley Foundation selected William Kristol for his outstanding achievements in a wide range of activities affecting the development of public policy from national and international perspectives," said Michael W. Grebe, the Foundation's president and chief executive officer. "He is a widely respected conservative leader."

3. Why is this being held at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts?
That scumbag should not be allowed anywhere NEAR that building.
He should accept his award at a more fitting venue.

Like "Gitmo".

I hate that fucker.

8. 'S OK. They've made the award an embarrassment to decency and a badge of dishonor.
There's no going back.

12. Kristol was also one of the directors of the PNAC project, let's not forget. Kristol's getting this
award now that Bushco's no longer in office indicates how much influence they still have.

Yes, seriously, it may have been a way of channeling legal funds to Kristol.

McDonald's Playland is appropriate, not the JFK Center.

14. couldn't he do something to qualify for a Darwin award?
Please?

I understand that Charles Krauthammer tried for one before they came up with the name ... but he only qualified for "honorable mention" (dishonorable mention?)

16. So he'll be subject to the higher tax rates for incomes over $250,000?
Apparently the Bradley Foundation has more money than brains, so if some of their money gets back into circulation and replenishes the Treasury (even in a small way), it will be better for America. Tax the crap out of Kristol.

There are widely respected conservatives? I thought he was a moran that was always wrong but gets to state his opinion to the American public over and over again anyways because the media is lazy.

18. Here's the mission statement of the Bradley Foundation. Sounds a lot like that of AEI.
The Bradley Foundation's Mission
"The Bradley brothers were committed to preserving and defending the tradition of free representative government and private enterprise that has enabled the American nation and, in a larger sense, the entire Western world to flourish intellectually and economically. The Bradleys believed that the good society is a free society. The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation is likewise devoted to strengthening American democratic capitalism and the institutions, principles, and values that sustain and nurture it. Its programs support limited, competent government; a dynamic marketplace for economic, intellectual, and cultural activity; and a vigorous defense, at home and abroad, of American ideas and institutions. In addition, recognizing that responsible self-government depends on enlightened citizens and informed public opinion, the Foundation supports scholarly studies and academic achievement."
