3. They will start to break ranks, as the harder stuff is made known.
And, those who defend it, should have commercials ran next fall with the most gruesome photos.

4. COMPLETELY different worldviews.....
Fortunately the right-wingers are the minority, but they are a dangerous minority, IMO, given the prevalent self-loathing which they express through racism, torture, "moral" extremism, etc.

Completely different worldviews...

I've been saying for a long time, given that I live in the Bible Belt, surrounded by Palin supporters, that I honestly can't imagine continuing to live in the same world. We want VASTLY different things out of life. When not in a crisis due to a natural disaster or something, when people tend to come together and overlook differences and focus on pure humanity, they truly live in a different world than I do and see things in a completely different way than I (and many here) see things.

6. Not true.. neo-cons are defending it, real Republicans are not
They are stripped to their base. Faux news and the tea baggers. 50 million people voted for McCain, they had, at best, a million or two tea baggers, the rest of them are just as pissed off as we are. PLus even some of the talking heads have had enough. Did you see Shepard Smith scream "AMERICANS DON'T FUCKING TORTURE" live on Faux yesterday? There is a clip of it in the political vids section. He was pissed at these loonies defending torture.

8. Don't think so.

My hunch is that there will be another big effort for each side to claim patriotism, "real Americans," manliness, etc. etc.

I think the battlelines will shift and the outcome is very hard to predict.

9. Fine., let them own it, and let them own being against the
rule of law, which once upon a time was extremely important to them. They are nothing but partisan hypocrites.
