I've been saying for a long time, given that I live in the Bible Belt, surrounded by Palin supporters, that I honestly can't imagine continuing to live in the same world. We want VASTLY different things out of life. When not in a crisis due to a natural disaster or something, when people tend to come together and overlook differences and focus on pure humanity, they truly live in a different world than I do and see things in a completely different way than I (and many here) see things.

PLus even some of the talking heads have had enough. Did you see Shepard Smith scream "AMERICANS DON'T FUCKING TORTURE" live on Faux yesterday? There is a clip of it in the political vids section. He was pissed at these loonies defending torture.
