MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A resolution has been introduced in the Alabama House that praises Miss USA contestant Carrie Prejean for speaking out against gay marriage during Sunday night's televised pageant.

Prejean was competing as Miss California and finished second after answering a question from judge Perez Hilton concerning her views on gay marriage. The pageant was won by Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton.

The resolution was introduced Tuesday by Republican Rep. Jay Love of Montgomery.

Love said Prejean showed she was willing to stick to her convictions even if it meant losing the pageant.

The resolution was referred to the House Rules Committee for consideration.

Let's applaud hate speech. I realize that it was her opinion about an issue, but when other states start passing resolutions to praise people for their ignorance, it borders on applauding hate speech.

We have no hope of survival as a species if people like Rep. Love (ironic?) are going to waste our precious oxygen.

on edit: forgive me for using hyperbole in this place without a disclaimer

Sounds more like an R&B star than a paleo-conservative knuckle-dragger.

I'm glad republicans are willing to stick to their convictions even if it means losing their elections.

5. Since I live in Alabama, lemme tell you something...
As you know, our Guv. is a Rove buddy.

The Ala. legislature meets something like 3 weeks a year, and there is so much acrimony between the parties, they hardly ever pass speak to one another ( true )
much less pass any legislation.
Says a lot that they actually got together to INTRODUCE a resolution...it will probably not pass.

Now you know why my name has the grrrr in it.

I need a hug.
