Sex Drives Everything.
Edited on Thu Apr-23-09 03:03 PM by byronius

Beta or VHS? Pornography decided.

Percentage of internet resources devoted to sex? Huge.

Switchers, processors, need for speed for video? Sex, sex, sex.

Political stance? Check your sexual proclivity. Denier/Punisher? Conservative. Oral/Hedonist? Liberal.

What the Susan Boyle judges were really saying: 'you're not sexually attractive, therefore everyone hates you, therefore it's shocking that you have talent'.

'Prius'? Fer chrissakes. Google 'Priaprism'.

It's the curse of the bisexual method of reproduction. If we were all unisexual mitosiaters, it'd all be different. As soon as you divide life into 'innie' and 'outie', and make it so that you need an innie and an outie to make another creature, you get all sorts of complications.

Not to mention innies biochemically driven to mate with innies, and outies being driven to mate with outies, and sometimes feeling so guilty about it that they are drivien to bizarre acts of conservatism and Proposition 8-ing.

I'm not saying the sex-drive-at-the-base-of-everything is wrong. I'm just saying. Sex drives everything. Anybody who denies it is being driven by sex to do so.

2. Is it sex, or is it the adolescent mis-understanding of sex?
I think most of what passes for "sex" in the media is a confused and sweaty interpretation of what is seen in later life to be merely amusing.

and far away from being a millionaire.

So I lose both ways.

11. Evolutionarily speaking, I think you have that backwards.
Remember, our base human drives for reproduction and consumption are pretty much unchanged for 1,000,000 years and we have little inclination to change, as a species.

The greed is the feathers on the peacock, so to speak. There to attract the mate. The bigger and more iridescent the fan of tailfeathers, the more likely said peacock will get his peacock off.

(yes, I have oversimplified peacock mating rituals, because this isn't a post about peacock mating rituals, but a metaphor)

From a million years ago, when hardwiring the male human brain to want to fuck basically every female, made perfect sense in a species so small in numbers, so unequipped with biological defense mechanisms like claws or bony armor or the ability to rapidly tunnel, that such desires could wind up preserving a species that otherwise would have died out, to today, when such a union of sex and greed now comes full circle to destroy our species.

This is quite the mild disagreement on the order of "Which came first the chicken or the egg?"

But I think that, based on my line of reasoning, that greed is one of the mechanisms by which we fufill our need for having sex with everything that moves.

Just ask The Donald Trump.

14. Greed goes on when sex is left in the dust.
Dick Cheney is a perfect example. Yes, he IS a fucker, but I am guessing he hasn't done the old Humpty Dumpty in years.

Greed is what's driving his train at this stage in his life.

17. The Stuff You're Talking About, It's Really Money Driving Everything
It's absolutely true that sex is probably the most powerful source of motivation for 98% of what goes on in this world, but what you're talking about is sex being used for sheer profit, and used to divide people for the sake of having power and influence.

Susan Boyle? 30 years ago wouldn't have been such a big deal. No? Take a look at Julia Child some time.

Take a listen to Cass Elliot sometime, or other countless successful women prior to the age of cable TV.

Your issue - all of ours, really - is people wanting to get rich using short cuts, and providing sexual fantasy fodder to the masses is one of the quickest routes of all to riches. Look at the proliferation of kiddie porn. That's not sex, that's sexual dysfunction for profit.
