This is the perfect opportunity for INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISTS ...
to be born.

In general, the talking heads on MSM have been just that for the last eight years: talking heads. Allowing guests to spew whatever nonsense may be the talking point of the day. Follow the shiny object of the moment.

There are obvious corporate financial interests and agendas at play, but I think 9/11 and the whole "you're unpatriotic if you disagree with the President!" meme cemented their role as lackeys.

Whether it's due to genuine personal outrage or perhaps a few are obtaining a glimpse of the possibility to obtain professional credibility, several unexpected outbursts and push backs are happening about the torture issue. The Shep Smith of Faux blowup is the prime example. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG2VF4a0LWs )

There is SO MUCH TO BE UNCOVERED in Washington. So many layers of corruption that have largely gone unchecked for decades.

How I wish they would dive in and do their jobs.

INVESTIGATE, INVESTIGATE, INVESTIGATE.

I double dog dare them. In times like this names go down in history for those who step up and do the right thing.

1. You & I are on the same wave-length today.
I was just wondering, 'if only we were still in the Edward R. Murrow & Walter Cronkite days', when we also still had an ethically-minded congress with the intent to do what was morally right.

Instead, we're mired in an up-is-down Twilight Zone where the news is nothing more than infotainment, & our congress won't act without testing which way the wind is blowing.

Impeachment was in order a long time ago, way before the decision was made to thumb their noses at the Geneva Conventions.

Now, after 8 years of continued corruption, their backs are against the wall to do something about it, & our government is still being wishy-washy about this one clear-cut issue.

INVESTIGATE, INVESTIGATE, INVESTIGATE.

2. back in the day, investigative journalists
had paying jobs. Try to find one now, that isn't filled with someone who has been desperately hanging on for decades in spite of the beatings.

Those days are over. You are welcome to do it for free and never be given any credibilty. Like the superb bloggers at TPM and FDL, for example.

But you are right we need a bunch of em. because they've been targeted for decades. And the need is more and more as we see newspapers less and less.

3. It's sad about the newspapers, but they literally brought it upon themselves.
Speaking for myself, I quit reading my local newspaper during the "kick their @ss, take their gas" atmosphere. We kept the subscription going because my husband liked the sports section, but we finally cancelled several months ago.
