McCain Obtusely Accuses Obama of Running A Banana Republic
As does Kit Bond:

McCain: In Banana Republics they prosecute people for actions they didn't agree with under previous administrations.

Bond: This whole thing about punishing people in past administrations reminds me more of a Banana Republic than the United States of America. We don't criminally prosecute people we disagree with when we change office. There are lots of questions that could have been asked of the Clinton administration failing to recognize the war on terror. They did not. The Bush administration went forward, and that's the way our country should. The President said he was going to be forward looking and now he has opened up the stab in the back.

Hmmm...methinks I remember things like the Starr investigation and the Clinton impeachment. If the point of all this is that administrations should be investigated while they're still in power and not after, then why did Republicans oppose any real measure of oversight from 2001-2008?

1. It's not an issue of agreeing or disagreeing. What they did was illegal.
There's a huge difference. They can agree or disagree all they like, but it's still illegal.

5. Exactly. They keep trying to ftrame this as
policy disagreement instead of war crimes.

They will repeat and repeat, hoping that the public will believe this is just political.

11. Bingo!
It was illegal when they did it and no one enforced the law.

The law still matters.

4. Oh what BS
We aren't trying to prosecute Bush over tax cuts. We hopefully are trying to prosecute over illegal activities.

Stupid Freepers, it they put as much effort into accomplishing things as they did into being on the same page, they might...Nah, they'd still suck.

10. No, John: In Banana Republics, They TORTURE the Previous Administrations
Good Lord, the man was tortured himself and now is trying to politicize the debate. Unfreakinbelievable.

Thank God he got his ass kicked in November. See how likely it is that he would have swept Bushco's crimes under the rug?

14. "Banana republics" had puppet governments run for the benefit of corporations.
The "government" of the banana republic was propped up by U.S. policies at the behest of the corporations who had financial interests there, i.e. United Fruit Company.

16. Repube buzzword of the day-Banana Republic
If these self-described "public servants" spent 1/100 of their time and energy acutally doing right by their constituants they wouldn't have to resort to the daily assclown theatrics. My tolerance level is below zero at this point.

Not surprising. Once I hear Rove say something then a flurry of RWers then repeat the same lines.
