Media watchers needed for the next week.
1. People to help search terms: partisan witch hunt, banana republic, torture policy and their morphs for the next week.

2. People to spot new memes on the morning cable shows. Brave people with strong stomachs!

3. People who listen to morning radio talk shows.

We take their media blitz apart. Can you do that? It shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes a day We need to you scan the media, expecially in the early morning and report back so we can refine our targets.

Check in below. (Hang on until I have the groups up in the thread.)

20. We can get an early start right now with the "retribution" framing
used by Harry Reid.

By next week he'll be rebuffing other Congressional Dems' calls for a commission as "witch hunts". I'll bet money.

OK, I know that's not the goal for next week, but damn.

and "criminalizing legal advice".

McCain: Obama starting 'witch hunt'

By ANDY BARR | 4/23/09 11:49 AM EDT

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) warned Thursday that any attempt by the Obama administration to prosecute the Bush-era lawyers who wrote memos signing off on waterboarding would start a “witch hunt.”

“If you criminalize legal advice, which is basically what they're going to do, then it has a terribly chilling effect on any kind of advice and counsel that the president might receive,” McCain said during an interview on CBS’s “Early Show.”

(...)

“Look, I didn't agree, as you said, with the techniques — and I'd be glad to continue that debate with people. But to criminalize their legal counsel, unless you can prove that they intentionally violated existing laws or ethics, then this is going to turn into a witch hunt,” he said.

McCain compared the potential prosecutions with the actions of “banana republics” that “prosecute people for actions they didn't agree with under previous administrations.”

“To go back on a witch hunt that could last for a year or so, frankly, is going to be bad for the country, bad for future presidents — precedents that may be set by this, and certainly nonproductive in trying to pursue the challenges we face,” he said.

27. US News & World Report: Torture "Witch Hunt" & "equivalencies" with Clinton years

Torture Investigation Must Yield Good Info--No False Confessions, No Witch Hunts

April 22, 2009 11:45 AM ET | John Aloysius Farrell
By John Aloysius Farrell, Thomas Jefferson Street blog

At GlobalPost this morning, I report on President Obama's desire to keep politics out of any investigation of the harsh interrogation techniques used by the military and the CIA in the weeks and months after al Qaeda's attacks on Washington and New York.

It is a proper and noble sentiment, and the country would probably be better off handing the investigation to an independent and bipartisan panel like the 9/11 commission, as Obama wishes. As he said yesterday, the president and Congress have enough to worry about, what with wars and economic calamity on their plate.

The Left smells blood, and wants a show trial for Bush administration officials. And there are many on the Right who would be happy if congressional Democrats stage a disgraceful spectacle on Capitol Hill. It would fuel the conservative argument that the Dems cannot be trusted with national security.

(...)

Does not anyone on the Left see the irony of calling for trials and impeachments, after arguing so strenuously that the United States should "move on" from the witch hunts of the Clinton years?

Maybe another category for blogs? Some sites collect blog articles from various sources, and they can be culled.

6. I can do
Quinn & Rose for about 1/2 hour in the am, top of their show at 6:00 when they start.

May also be able to do some comparison to Pittsburgh wing-nuts Honsberger (12-3 PM) and Pintek (6-9) on local KDKA 1020. I can only catch about the last 20 min. of the Honzman, and I can't spend the whole evening listening to Pintek, but I will do what I can.

This is a great thread, btw! One day about a year or so ago, just by chance, I caught Q&R, Honz, and El Rushbo on the same day :puke:, and they were all saying the same things.

Let's nail these SOBs!

Checking out WJ every morning specifically looking for those talking points that are sure to pop up on hate radio later in the day. They always make sure to give the AEI and Heritage sockpuppets plenty of time to spew their lies.
