I understand the nut cases who want to secede, that isn't what I'm talking about.

I mean that my own state - Washington - has passed one of those sovereignty - laws? referendums? pout rages?? and I don't know why.

Of what possible use, with the exception of polishing tin foil hats - are these statements??

2. Political posturing. California legislature passed a sovereignty resolution in 1994.

An indication of the significance of these resolutions is that few even know CA passed one many years ago. As Texas Gov Goodhair recently demonstrated, it's political theater. Politicians trying to make it look like they're doing something substantive while really doing nothing of the kind.

These resolutions are the legislative equivalent of "writing a sternly worded letter to the Times." But some folks eat it up.
