"Choking game" learned on Youtube killing youngsters
How horrible.
I have never even heard about this "game". Those of you with children, keep those lines of communication open.

"It goes by many names, including “the good kids’ game,” because it’s a way for kids who never drink or do drugs to get high.

It’s also a way for them to get dead.

Ken and Kathy Tork know that now. Their son Kevin was a good kid — a bright and generous 15-year-old who seemed to have everything going for him. But the boy played what is most commonly called the “choking game” — a fad among teenagers that experts say could more accurately be called “suffocation roulette” — and he lost. Kevin was discovered unconscious in his room by his 11-year-old sister.

“You think the kid’s happy, always has a smile on his face, so you’re not really red-flagged for this until it ,” Kathy Tork told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira Friday in New York. She had come to the studio along with her husband and daughter to warn other parents of the dangers of a deadly game that is learned at parties and camps and on YouTube, and which is claiming the lives of kids as young as 9 or 10.

“I would never guess he was doing anything like this,” she added..."

1. Very sad. Sadly this was also only a matter of time
the problem with the easy exchange of ideas, is the bad ones get shared as well. :-(

9. It has definitely been around for awhile
When I was 15 which was a decade ago, some of my friends were into playing that game. They started out doing it on a fairly irregular basis, but some of them started doing it pretty consistently. I can remember them trying to make me participate. They argued that it was a great way to have fun without using drugs. I thought that it was dangerous so I refused to participate. Right after that some anonymous person went to the guidance counselor and told her about it. She spoke with the kids who the anonymous source identified as ring leaders. That did help some with kids not playing the game anymore, but it always seemed like some people were still doing it.

4. Just legalise Pot already , let kids experience the real "high" instead
of seeking it with dangerous activity

12. They mix that with choking too: "erotic asphyxiation". I lost a
student to that fad in the '80s

6. I used to do this when I was in middle school.
We just called it passing each other out. Pot is way better and safer, also is not accompanied by blacking out. Didnt think you could die from it but makes sense that you could. We got caught right after we passed out on of my friends, the teacher came in and he could barely speak, just in a daze. Very stupid now that I think back.

13. Wow, my sis and cousins and I did this a few times.
This was in between spinning around in a circle for as long as you can for the "giggles" to encountering pot and booze and a few other assorted things.

I didn't like the being choked game. Didn't like seeing my sis do it either. But to a kid, it looked adventurous.

Wonder what it is about the human psyche that craves and seeks euphoria...
