1. I transferred to the Credit Union this week.
Are nefarious rip-off banks a symptom of the past?

3. credit unions are not immune, also today.......
April 24 (Bloomberg) -- Eastern Financial Florida Credit
Union, with $1.6 billion in assets and 200,000 customers, was
seized by regulators because of its “declining financial

condition.”

The Miramar, Florida-based lender was placed in

conservatorship and Space Coast Credit Union in Melbourne,
Florida, will temporarily take over its operations, the National
Credit Union Administration said in a statement today.

“While the credit union was placed into conservatorship

because of declining financial condition, the decision to

conserve a credit union enables the institution to continue
normal operations,” the regulator said in the e-mailed
statement.

Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union has customers in
five Florida counties and in Jacksonville, the regulator said.

7. 6 GA banks closed in 2009, to date.
More importantly, as of now, 29 banks have closed this year, compared to
25 banks closing in all of 2008
and 3 banks closing in 2007.

6. Having once lived near Calabasa
I have to say that the First Bank of Beverly Hills, Calabasas is an oxymoron to start with. Which may be the reason it failed.
