It's not Craigslist, it's bad laws.
The "Craigslist Killer" had previous victims, most of them sex workers.

Why do you think they were afraid to go to the police?

Could it be that they were afraid of being arrested for prostitution-related offenses?

Could it be that they didn't have any means to screen clients because of "soliciting" laws?

Technology panics are so much more attention-grabbing, though.

1. We need to protect sex workers.
They should be legitimized and allowed health insurance. Prostitutes have been around since the beginning of civilization, so there's obviously a need in our society for people in this profession. They seem to be the first victims of serial killers. It's really tragic, and it doesn't have to be this way.

2. Nah it's all the interwebs!
That's how Jack the Ripper killed his ladies of negotiable affection. Not only was he the Queen's surgeon but he was a technical genius who discovered weblist hookups a century before the rest of us.

4. some people do incredibly stupid and dangerous things - craigslist is a just a tool to help them
setting up blind meetings to provide personal services has hazards no matter how they are arranged.

Then again some people may think it is ok for their kids to get porn on Craigslist.
