we did a good thing but in a bad way...does the good out weigh the bad?
We moved to Detroit from VA last summer..after July 4th and because of restraints on the amounts of stuff we could put in our U Haul truck AND the fact that the lawn mower was on it's last leg, and full of gasoline in a closed HOT truck we left it behind. It would sputter and spew..and complained endlessly when cutting grass. Last year my husband used a weed wacker to cut grass.

The good thing...we purchased a reel push mower this month..no gas, no oil, no spark plugs..just push it back and forth and viola!!! cut grass!!!

The bad thing is we purchased it through walmart...our nemisis...through site to store..no shipping and handling charges...and it cost under $100...and being new to Detroit we have no idea where to purchase a reel mower other than all the other box stores.

The question is, does the good of a reel mower out weigh the bad of purchasing it from walmart?

PS..we left sweltering VA and found the weather in July/August in Detroit DELIGHTFUL..it was the winter that was FRIGHTFUL!

1. You're going to hell for shopping at Walmart.
...but it'll be a hell with clean air.

1) Food

2) Water

3) Shelter

4) Cheap plastic shit.

7. that is too funny...my husband says the same thing..only he loves this lawn mower
it is quick and easy..since we don't have a large yard, and his experience with the old one was start..stall..start...stall...took him longer with the old gas model, to mow about the same space, than this reel push mower.

8. Unless you're mowing a huge yard, reel mowers are great.
Just for future reference:

(more models toward the bottom of the page, too)

10. Reel mowers have problems with sticks, though.
Make sure you pick up the sticks before you mow. They also don't like heavy leaf cover (like in autumn).

...but for smaller, well-groomed yards, they're better than gas mowers by far.

13. It's great when getting something better for the environment
ends up better for quality of life as well.

Slightly over a year ago, we bought paint that was "greener". Though it was marginally more expensive, it was fantastic that it didn't have the "paint" smell that gave me headaches when the painting was done and surprisingly, it's been far easier to wash hand prints off.

6. See here's the thing....ultimately, no one...
really cares where you buy your things....

What you should be looking into is not just the price but the quality
and all of the item.

Wal*Mart DOES sell proprietary items...I'd check out consumer sites to see
how their items compare in reliability, warranty and repair.

14. The good outweighs the bad.
Hopefully, Wal Mart's margin was small on your mower! :)

15. I think you need to balance values against practicality
and do the best that you can do, realizing it's always better than doing nothing, and always striving to do better. That's been my practice.
