Pres Obama greeted by Swine Flu victim who died following day
'Last night it was reported that President Obama had met one of the possible victims earlier this month.
He was greeted on his visit to Mexico City on April 16 by archaeologist Felipe Solis, who died the following day from flu-like symptoms.'

It seems like it is past the incubation period for President Obama. Still, I find it worrisome.

1. I have a hard time believing this story.
You just don't drop dead from the flu after displaying symptoms over 1 day. I'm not saying it isn't true, but it seems incredible.

5. It was pretty shocking to read.
I don't know what to believe. I'm not sure why someone would make that up, though. As far as I know President Obama is fine. As for the victim, perhaps he'd been sick for a few days but had continued working.

That so many people have died in Mexico, from what is described as a mild illness here in the states, makes no sense to me. I have no medical training, however, so what I think means little.

2. Geez, what did that archaeologist know anyway?
This is definitely out of the amazing coincidence range.

4. Did the archaeologist not feel sick before meeting our President?
It is possible. The 1918 epidemic reported seemingly healthy people literally "dropping in their tracks" as they walked down the street.

6. Still you'd think the guy would be wise to his own health.
It's not like some urchin from a favela running up to hug the president.

continue working when they first get ill. That is my best guess. Or maybe he could not pass up the opportunity to meet our president.

14. Now that you mention it,
I think I do recall something about him having a cold. But I don't remember where or when. He has appeared healthy enough, though, thank goodness. Just the idea that he was exposed to a deadly virus is sobering. I wonder when he became aware of of all this.

strap on a bomb probably would. :scared:

I do not think that is the case in Mexico, though.
