Here's mine:

Dear editor,

It's a shame that Republicans and many pundits are politicizing the torture policies of the Bush administration. Defending torture will completely wreck the Republican Party.

Don't they understand that our enemies will justify the use of torture on captured American soldiers if there isn't accountability?

And, enemy soldiers will not even consider surrender in future armed conflits to avoid being tortured. Tens of thousands of Iraqi troops waved the white flag of surrender during the first Gulf War because they knew they'd be treated humanely which saved many lives on both sides.

"Give them no reason to complain," ordered General George Washington to his troops regarding British POWs. Many British troops surrendered knowing they would receive humane treatment and chose later to become U.S. citizens.

Patriotic Americans should demand accountability for those who approved torture and return the rule of law and high moral ground to the U.S.A.

1. Wow. It's such a shame that this is even a consideration.
George Washington got it right, and it had been right until this past putz? Think about that.
