Just about the coolest thing I've ever seen.
This is a video from the concert held before President Obama's inauguration. It's not very long, but it sure is neat!

5. Now if you take that same concept and apply to everyday life...
Edited on Sun Apr-26-09 06:57 AM by ASUliberal
You come to a pretty weird conclusion about your existence relative to others. You also have a better understanding of the concepts of past present and future.

Humans are not all knowing. So human perception is limited by the ability of our senses to pick up information about our environment. Since it takes "time" for that information to reach us and be processed in our brain, that means that by the time you experience that particular event, that event has already taken place.

So with that being true, is there ever such a thing as present, relative to human perception? Because what we conceive to be present reality is by definition the past because it has already "long sense" played out before we even know it has happened. To the best of my understanding, there is no such thing as "present" within human perception. We do not live in the present. There is only the future, events that have yet to occur, and the past, events that have occurred. So we quite literally are always living in the past. haha

Although that is basically the same thing as the theory of relativity. It just highlights how independent we are as humans from the true concept of reality.

That's some pretty deep stuff for so early on a Sunday morning. I like it, though. :)
