Was President Obama exposed to Swine Flu in Mexico?
In the middle of a news story about the swine flu deaths in Mexico, Bloomberg slips in a frightening reference to President Obama:

"The outbreak coincided with the President Barack Obama’s trip to Mexico City on April 16. Obama was received at Mexico’s anthropology museum in Mexico City by Felipe Solis, a distinguished archeologist who died the following day from symptoms similar to flu, Reforma newspaper reported. The newspaper didn’t confirm if Solis had swine flu or not. "

I'd noticed that CNN was making a big deal today about statements from the White House that Obama was feeling fine and even showed some footage of him walking across the White House grounds today. Apparently that's designed to squash rumors about the president's health before it gets out of hand.

Here's an MSNBC story that summarizes what's known about possible cases of swine flu in the USA as of now:

Call me paranoid, but it scares me that Mr. Obama was in such close contact with someone who died from the flu. Especially when considering the temper of the Republican party as lead by Limbaugh, Cheney, and Gingrich. It sounds like an "anthrax" type attack in a suspicious and paranoid kind of way.

1. I think our paranoia is for nought
Recent events have proven these Maximum Warriors to be little more than frightened, skittish paper tigers.

The idea that Barack Obama may have been exposed to Swine Flu should give us concerns, but not too much. If the President does contract Swine Flu, he will receive the best medical care that we can offer him -- and his family.

The natural world scares me a lot more. We continue to abuse what we depend on. I don't like to anthropomorphize nature, but our behavior is perverse to say the least.

then be aware that Mexican doctors have now announced that known current anti viral treatment has already been shown to have no effect regardless of dosage. That was mentioned in live BBC TV News here in the UK 10 minutes ago.

7. Do be aware that Bloomberg screwed up. Dr. Solis in fact died 7 days after
meeting Obama: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=5536043&mesg_id=5536485

Not that Obama wasn't in Mexico City at a time this virus was around and spreading, though.

5. That is some sick shit
Such good Christians!

There's politics, then there's infectious disease. It's a shame that some people don't know the difference.

6. People with good immune systems can beat it easy. I bet Obama has great immunity
How many hands has he shaken(and how many germs has he been exposed to) in the past year?

8. Not necessarily true -
while human flu is worse for those with weakened immune systems, this swine flu is infecting young healthy people. That's one of the reasons there's concern.

Just wanted to point that out.
