That a "debate" even exists over torture is tortuous

The Bush cronies, in concert with the usual RW talking heads, have successfully framed the issue of torture into a fraudulent debate: does waterboarding even qualify as torture if no permanent injury occurs, does torture yield results, and should it be used even if the international community agrees it is a crime?

This is not high speed rail or income tax regulations at issue; it's an outrageous violation of human rights. But they have fashioned torture into just another topic for thoughtful round table discussion, believing that if enough of the MSM'ers and the polled public are agreeable, it becomes just another policy debate for Very Wise Men in Suits to settle.

Wouldn't want to worry anyone's beautiful mind over someone who has received an island vacation with free food and housing, even if they have to face a daily drowning or six.
