So the local radio talkshow wingnut semi-retired, that is, is participating in Lib lifestyle by being a Mr Mom, taking a long break to provide care with a life-threateningly ill son, while his wife continues her career.

Otherwise is a raging wingnut, but listens to others, and we continue our e-mail sparring.

So I told him about my contretemps with a wingnut Iraq vet at the VFW, and he replied, "You highlight again that a lot of people need to stand down and chillax."



Here's what I sent him (no response yet):

Uh, it was just recently that you were doing raging, flamingly wingnut "Bottom Line" commentaries, and your replacement is (getting paid more? for) making an outlandish, hysterical, wingnut FOOL of himself, and the whole local line-up is outrageously wingnut, and there are the scorched-earthers LIMBOsevic, HANNITY, O'LOOFAH, Michael "Savage" WIENER, Gordon LIDDY, the BUCHANANs, Oliver NORTH, Dick Toesucker MORRIS, the entire Roger AILES shop at Faux Propaganda Network....

Could there be the WEE-est bit of incendiarianism going on for the past 20 years, all racheted up by white-hot wingnutism?! Hmmmmm?!

I really believe that the fall of NIXON is what set off the RAGE for revenge on the wingnut side. And as "All politics is local," I'm coming to believe that recent history has been a CARTEL thing going on, the BUSH family vs. Saddam, having NOTHING to do with the American people.

It's like what GIBBON wrote about the Roman Empire, that at some point the people of Rome were OUT OF THE LOOP in the wars the Emperors were conducting, that, so long as they had bread and circuses (cf., trinkets from Walmart and the NFL and March Madness), the Roman public at large didn't bother themselves with the far away goings on and wars, whether the "far away" now is Washington D.C. political games or the wars "over there."

Anyway, YOU radio yakkers need to STAND DOWN AND CHILLAX. YOU are stirring and stirring the pot. You've never taken responsibility when I ask you to explain how a decent human (which I've so far credited you as being, although I'm having my doubts) can be a scorched earth wingnut or close your eyes to the wrongness of your political leaders.

There is some merit to what you say and it has bled over to other venues, such as MSNBC. I used to watch it at night and had hopes that Maddow would be entertaining, but she has become cute and precious and unwatchable. And Olbermann is unhinged.
