Can you believe this crap? Battleaxe Barbara's designer rags on Michelle's style
Arnold Scaasi, Barbara Bush's Favorite Designer, On Michelle Obama's Style: "Something Is Amiss" (SLIDESHOW)

Designer Arnold Scaasi has dressed first ladies Mamie Eisenhower, Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Barbara Bush (who he says he still dresses), Hillary Clinton, and Laura Bush (*see some of his famous gowns below*). But he hasn't yet dressed Michelle Obama, and, in his opinion, she could use a little help in the style department.

"She's great-looking, she has a great personality and she's obviously very bright," he stressed. "But..." Scaasi finished the dreaded qualifier with, "something is amiss."

Scaasi agrees with Oscar de la Renta, who recently ignited a firestorm of controversy when he criticized the outfit Mrs. Obama wore to meet the Queen. (De La Renta later appeared on "The View" to clarify his comments.)

2. You mean somebody actually DESIGNED Laura Bush's outfits
and she didn't buy them off the rack at an Alfred Dunner's closeout sale, or have somebody stitch them up from leftover drapery and upholstery fabric?

If this guy doesn't like Michelle's clothes, then she's doing it right.

and if those two old queens, Arnie Isaacs and Oscar "Put The Young Boy In The Back Seat With Me" de la Renta, are criticizing Michelle, she's definitely on the right track.

It would appear that there are bad losers all over the place. And tired, over-the-hill designers who haven't yet figured out that not all our First Ladies want to look like loveseats .......................

21. Michelle Obama should ignore this Isaacs/Scaasi designer.
She dresses well, and looks good. She can pull off a wide range of looks to suit her personality. Part of her appeal is that she doesn't need a fancy designer's help to dress well. She's attractive and savvy enough to dress herself when she feels like it. That's part of her charm, part of what makes her seem so genuine.

23. Michelle Obama Dresses Like the First First Lady With an Active Sex Life
Edited on Sun Apr-26-09 05:33 PM by NashVegas
And boobs. And hips.

Beyond that, many of MO's dresses seem to be designed by people who are inspired by 1980s underground fashion; a little punk, a little 50's bombshell. Very much the look when she was (and many more of us were) in college, only a little more grown up and toned down in her 40s.

She'd have to lose 30 pounds to wear the Oleg's and the Lauren's and the Calvin's, and the Oscar's and look like *their* vision. Instead, she chooses her own vision and picks what works for her, not what works for Oscar.

That she does this and also manages with clothes that are sometimes straight off the rack, and look hip and sexy without looking slutty is a benefit to all US women, especially young women. Boo-hoo, Oscar

The dress she wore to that NATO function everyone raved about, I didn't care for the bodice at. All. Looks like something for a tennis match. And the overcoat for the France trip was awful.

I think most of her picks are just fine, though, even when they don't particularly appeal to me.

Michelle Obama decides for herself what to wear instead of overpaying
some guy with a "foreign" name a fortune to wear stuff she is perfectly

Your reign should have ended with Babs the Elder - at least you used a lot of fabric to distract from the flaws in her character.

Of course in hard economic times even modestly priced clothing isn't really affordable. But still I would imagine that her entire wardrobe costs 5% or less of what the RNC spent on Palin's clothing.

50. Arnie is horrible.
He doesn't know anything about line, proportion, and accenting good features of the figure and covering up flaws, obviously.

Dressing women in heavy, beaded bodices makes them look a lot heavier and dumpier, just for one example. The thing on Hillary is too fussy and has too many weird structures. She needed something that would accent the neckline and take the focus away from her hips.
:wtf:

Bob Mackie could do much better!!! Oprah once wore a Bob Mackie dress to the Oscars that was gorgeous. It was black knit jersey and fitted. Floor length. Long fitted sleeves with no cuffs. The neckline was a V with silver and blue buglebeads around it and on the shoulders, and down the arms, to bring the attention to the neckline. That was the most flattering formal dress I've ever seen on a plump (normal sized) woman.

Michelle knows a lot about flattering her figure. I loved the bright red sheath dress she wore to the White House with the gathers at the neck. That was very sharp looking. And I liked the mustard yellow dress with coat she wore for the Inauguration.

She has a great figure and is tall and slim. Most anything would look good on her. I don't like some of the things she wears, but overall, she is doing fabulously well in the clothing department.

You never wear a shirt and tie of the same color/pattern and you don't mix a vertical striped shirt pattern with a diagonal striped tie pattern. Michelle Obama, for the most part, is very well dressed. Nobody is perfect.

55. Arnie's shirt and tie combo is hideous in that picture
For one, you NEVER wear the same pattern/color shirt and tie. It looks like the curtains blending in with the wallpaper. Secondly, you don't wear a vertical stripted shirt with a diagonal/horizontal striped tie.

If Arnie wants to have any credibility in the fashion realm, he should start dressing like he knows what he's talking about.
