My LTTE regarding Torture

The question should never be was torture effective. Shepherd Smith had it right when he said, "We are America we don't expletive torture." If we truly want to be the shining city on the hill that Ronald Reagan always spoke about, than we should never torture our enemies. President Bush's administration gave Osama Bin Laden a victory when he authorized Americans to engage in the same type of behavior as Osama Bin Laden. This has happened before. In 1902 the country learned of water boarding that was done in the Phillipines in connection with the Spanish American War under a previous Presidential administration. There was some initial outrage but Theodore Roosevelt tried to and succeeded in pushing it under the rug under the justification that it was moderate torture. I hope President Obama learns from history and steps are taken that no future administration engages in staining America, as the Bush Administration has done.
