SAN ANTONIO - The State Health Department has ordered the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District to close all schools for at least one week. Saturday it was announced that Steele High School would shut down, but new illnesses have prompted a district-wide closure.

Dr. Sandra Guerra said, "We don't have lab confirmation for any of the additional flu-like illnesses yet, but we've found enough illnesses associated with some of the other schools that we believe it's prudent to close all of them before classes resume on Monday."

Swine Flu was lab-confirmed in two students from Steele High School and lab confirmation is pending on a third case.

All 14 schools and district facilities will remain closed through Friday. A decision will be made by then on whether to re-open the schools. For updated information related to closures call (210) 619-4700.
