It just seems like he is all over the place with his opinions. On one day Obama is a "leftist who wants to steal the election". Then he congratulates him. On one day torture is wrong. Then it isn't. Does he ever make up his mind?

1. He seems to be saying that torture is wrong but we shouldn't investigate
the torturers. It makes no sense whatsoever. If torture is wrong, then the torturers are wrongdoers. In what other area of law do we reason as crazily as McCain on this subject

2. He's like a lousy parent who doesn't know how to raise children
and teach them his values. Seems to have a laissez faire attitude about personal discipline. That was probably reflected in his behavior in the Navy, too, I bet.

4. Except that Meghan seems to have a coherent worldview
How that happened with the McCains as parents, I'll never know.

I don't know why no one calls McCain on his inconsistency.

12. Perhaps, for Meghan, it came with maturity and watching her mother's difficulties. nt

5. He's a maverick.
His children turned out pretty good, actually - much better than he did.

He has a rep in the military as a very spoiled brat with a terrible temper problem and an ego the size of Arizona.

15. He has no moral compass and will say anything if he perceives it as beneficial to his career

As a politician, he is a wholly fictitious person. His biography has been heavily stage-managed.

9. I think he's just easily influenced by whoever talked to him last
So, a moderate speaks to him and he'll say, "you know, you're right, torture is bad."

Then, a typical Republican gets ahold of him, and McCain will suddenly say, "yay torture! We need more of it. We can't tie the hands of our military."

Then, somebody else gets ahold of him, and he flip-flops again.

He just has no convictions and goes with the wind.

14. good point
and wasn't that reportedly why the campaign banned him from cell phone use over the summer? Because he would repeat the last thing that any person on his cell phone said to him (seriously)?

11. He's sold his political soul over the years...
Having to sleep with Neocons has made his previous "moderate republican" stance compromisable.

His daughter has no such problems.

17. He's just a cranky old man.. a bitter one, at that
He's SURE he DESERVED to be president, and he never will be..and it makes him furious

He parlayed his POW-ness into a successful political career, a trophy marriage to an heiress..and even that was not enough..

People just aren't that "into you", John

18. He does that shit all the time.
he tries to pretend that he works across parties when really he doesn't when it comes to the things that most people believe in.. He uses the fact that he was in the military and that he was tortured to pretend as though he is a spokesperson for most issues when he votes right along with the republicons he votes against vets on most issues..
