No cases of Swine flu have been confirmed in Riverside county

UPDATE 4-26-09 7:15 pm

RIVERSIDE - No cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Riverside County, but two people who returned from Mexico had flu-like symptoms and were tested at a hospital in Palm Springs, with results pending, public health officials said today.

The federal government declared a national public health emergency, although there have only been about 20 cases of swine flu in the United States so far, including four in San Diego County and three in Imperial County, and those cases were reportedly mild. But that's not the case in Mexico, where more than a thousand people have caught the disease and scores have died from it.

Public health officials expect the flu to spread and warned it has the ptential to become a pandemic. Swine flu is usually transmitted to humans by pigs, but they are concerned because a new strain of the virus appears to be jumping from human to human.

Now this is again, getting close for personal comfort... keep eye on this

1. Where are you? I'm in Los Angeles County. I don't like the idea of it hitting here.
People WON'T follow quarantine procedures, I suspect. They are either too stupid to understand, or too self-centered to care about others.

2. San Diego
and in mexico so far the quarantine has been voluntary, as far as houses are concerned

But it may, if this hits worst case, guard troops in the streets

It's not angelinos, it is human nature

Just see the denial round these parts

4. Yikes. You could be in the thick of some nastiness if things blow up across
the border, and not just in case of the flu.

8. I know but a friend took his 10 year old daughter to a clinic Saturday evening with flu symptoms.
He asked if it was possible his daughter had swine-flu and he was told that we don't have swine-flu in the Riverside area.

He asked if it was possible his daughter was the FIRST case and was insulted by the physician.

Sooner or later there will be a FIRST case in many areas.

11. That doctor needs his license suspended until he takes and passes
a remedial public health course. Seriously.

"We don't have swine flu here." Sounds like the stupid veterinarians here in Los Angeles that actively discourage people from vaccinating their cats from rabies because "we don't have rabies here".
