Unless you enjoy hype and fear mongering, in which case DU is your one-stop source. :D

4. I know - That's why I knew it would sink like a stone,
If I'd posted something about how the "gubmint" had constructed the swine flue there would have been 200 responses.

9. Facty overloads are also in style with the troofers.
A litany of facts loosely arranged around the periphery of an assertion.
Tends to smother any relevant information that one might offer.

What do they know about infectious diseases..:sarcasm:
For someone who says they are interested in science, you ignore actual data quite a bit.:eyes:

Are you perchance, an alchemist searching for the lapis philosophorum or are your humours unbalanced?

31. You are irony impaired, aren't you?
The posts can hardly be classed as "Sermonettes" unless you think that scientific thought is a religion, which it's not.

14. Thanks, I have been looking for a progressive focus on public health
this current situation is a really good time to look at our national and global public health systems to make sure they are in optimal working condition.

I had read in a fly-by post I couldn't get to, but the gist of it was that the science hating repugs, you know the smiling Bobby Jindal's with their mentality of the "stupidity of monitoring volcanoes - people" that those repugs had also cut funding for infectious disease pandemics.

As it stands, if there were an outbreak, there aren't enough ventilators, hospital beds or meds.

Not to mention staff training on a local community level, as already our health care workers are overworked,
except for our own Heddi, who is now occupied in inventing eau de' smoked porky links.

25. Thanks for the thank you.
There is so much hysteria and nonsense floating around about this that finding a source that actually reports on genuine science is a good thing.

Plus Science Blogs is a great place to hang around. I've learnt a lot recently about the antics of the anti science brigade - on both sides of the political spectrum.
