The Queen of France (pic heavy)
Edited on Tue Apr-28-09 06:48 AM by tocqueville

more here :

Suddenly, it was Paris versus Madrid, each woman a stylish embodiment of national pride.
Last night the leading ladies attended a gala dinner hosted by the Spanish royal family at the Zarzuela Palace outside Madrid.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1173949/The-day-Carla-met-match-Mrs-Sarkozy-upstaged-Spains-real-princess-glamour-showdown.html

actually Carla is a true princess : in addition to her role of first lady, she also is the princess-consort of the Principality of Andorra, where her husband (Nicolas Sarkozy) serves as one of that nation's two co-princes.

5. Am I the only one simply NOT impressed by Carla Bruni?
If any ever slept their way to the top it was Carla Bruni. And don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with women who sleep around, just women who use it as a tactic to get what they want.

10. if Carla was a man...
he would be a Casanova. A woman with the same behaviour is of course a slut or a gold-digger. So much for sexual freedom and independence...

Edited on Tue Apr-28-09 07:54 AM by LynneSin
but never to advance my own career or status in life.

I'm simply NOT impressed with the girl and get offended when people call her the "French Jackie O"

And btw, I'm also not impressed with Donald Trump. He'll keep wife #3 until she gets a bit 'old' looking and move on to the next wife he can pop out a few kids with.

23. how do you know
she "used it" to advance her own career ? she comes from a very wealthy family from the Italian bourgeoisie and became a top model at 19. What was to be "advanced" ? She belonged to the jet set from the beginning. What if Obama had married a top model? Would that turn that top model into a "suspicious" figure ?

And when people compare Jackie O to Carla it's because they remind of each other as presidential wives, age and glamorous fashion, language skills etc... not for their personal lives. And I shall remind you that Jackie created quite a scandal when she remarried with Onassis who symbolized the fat Greek ship-owner with probably not so clean background... talk about "securing" your own career (specially when having being the wife of an iconized assassinated president)...

no stones in a glass house, please

28. Carla Bruni was the original 'Paris Hilton' - she's an attention whore
And yes, some of Jackie Kennedy's aura stumbled with Aristole Onassis but it's not like Jackie Kennedy had the career of sleeping around that Carla Bruni did. If Jackie was having sex with other people she kept it to herself and not as publicity stunts to keep her name in the limelight.

Carla Bruni is the original 'Paris Hilton'. She was definately born from a family that had financial means but Carla did what she could to build a career with alot of fluff and not much substance - doing outrageous acts in order to keep her name in the limelight. You read her Wiki bio and it's not much differen then what Paris Hilton or Kim Kardasian does today.

Jackie never did things to seek the spotlight or be an attention whore, if anything she married Onassis to find security AWAY from the spotlight and protect her and herself from the paparazzi that followed her wherever she went. Onassis provided her with that security. Personally, looking at who Princess Diana was dating right up until she was killed in that car accident - I think she was looking for the same thing - a wealthy man who could take her away from the papparazzi. Carla Bruni has always run towards it or did things to try to bring it to her - Jackie O was never that kind of person

32. Paris and Carla don't play in the same league
and people in that world "sleep around" with other people of the same category, which automatically creates "attention". Money isn't the primarily issue. No more big deal than if Kennedy had married Marilyn Monroe (screwing her was OK but not more...).

Jackie had a different background and that's all. Trying to define "the value" of this or this woman solely by their sexual standards in non-comparable societies, is as conservative as it can be. Imagine Obama divorcing and remarrying with Paris Hilton... I guarantee a Republican victory in the next elections, no matter how good his presidency is.

37. No, Not Really
That is, he might have been a Cassanova, but he never would have gained quite the same fame as a model and been able to starfuck his way onto the world stage.

At least Ashton Kutcher works for a living.

In fact, that's how I first heard of her -- one of the local DJs is into French pop music.

16. technically yes
since the French President is the co-prince of Andorra (the other co-prince is a Spanish Bishop). But this isn't special to Sarkozy, it's a tradition. On the same chapter the French President has several honorary titles as the proto-canon of the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome. Which gives him the right to enter it on horseback.

25. her sash ?
she was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Carlos III with occasion of the couple's Spanish State Visit. So it's normal she wore it at the State Dinner. But it has nothing to do with her virtual "royalty", I was just joking.

I think Ms. Hall looked the other way when Mr.
Jagger played around, but she did NOT accept
his having children with other women, as he
did with this Brazilian woman.

He's like some alley cat that wants to impregnate every girl that walks by. I wouldn't fuck him even if I was wearing triple body condoms and doused with an econize bottle of lysol

Smart, talented and he didn't give a shit.

I certainly would have jumped him in the 70's...

later...not so much.

I read an article about him once that claimed
that a young guy had asked him why his faced
was so WRINKLED...he supposedly told the kid,
"Those are LAUGH LINES"...and the kid said...

"Nothing's THAT funny."

31. What is the deal with the obsession with royalty?
Do you want to be royalty. Fine. Go buy a title - they are readily available.

However royalty in all it's sinister forms is profoundly un-American. I find it repulsive for people to say that they are better than other people because God wants them to be better.

so today we have fun at the glamour, that's all. BTW the Presidential cult in the US is very comparable to teh attention people in general give to royalty. It's Hollywood stuff, absolute monarchy is dead except in Saudi Arabia.

36. The only 'royality' I was ever impressed with was Princess Diana...
and even then it wasn't until AFTER she was divorced from Prince Charles (which technically she wasn't a princess anymore). I think Diana became a better person in the years after her marriage ended because of her devotion to many many great charities including AIDs and Landmines.
