MSNBC said some statement from Indianapolis...

...was coming out about the swine flu, but I missed it. Have they already made it? Anyone hear what it was?

3. Bad for me
I live in Kentucky and am showing some signs of my annual spring cold. One more sneeze and God knows where I will be carted off to if anyone around here knows about this case in Indiana.

4. I hear you. I'm in Illinois and home with a sick kid today.
I called the school this morning to let them know she was not going to be there and that I'd be in around noon for her homework. They actually asked me what is wrong with her--and it was not so much a matter of "we like your kid and we are concerned" but more like "does she have some dread disease we need to know about?"

I explained she had a stuffy / runny nose and cough--but NO fever--and suggested I thought it was probably allergies. The relief was almost palpable.

Truth be told, I kept her home today mostly because I was worried that some shitty kid was gonna accuse her of having swine flu. Never occurred to me that the adults at the school might be as bad.

7. Those same people that would probably run into a firefight are scared shitless of this stuff.
I'm serious--the same people that think they are Audie Murphy and Rocky rolled into one are absolutely creeped out by this one. These are the same guys with the "these colors don't run" bumper stickers on their minivans and they are expecting us all to die from a flu bug.

Thing is, I can't say I blame them or am even surprised by it because I think a lot of this is about listening to news with a critical ear and half an alert mind. Right now the press is in "full court scare the hell out of the stupid" mode and you just know it isn't gonna get any better any time soon--even if the bug runs its course harmlessly.

5. Newscast here in Western Ohio...
...is saying that there is also an unconfirmed case in Richmond, Indiana, in the eastern part of the state.

They're doing tests to confirm.
