Did The Torture Issue Push Him Over???

This sure sends a solid message of how bad things have gotten in the rushpublican party and how things look for 2010. He sees the writing on the wall a couple ways. First is his problems of surviving a primary and re-election next year, but also indicates how little confidence he has that the GOOPers will regain any measure of power anytime soon.

I'm just wondering what pushed him. He could have waited a bit longer if the switch was to cover his Senate seat. I'm sensing something else pushed him...and it may be the torture issue. He's always been big on law and order and there was no way he could run defending a party that justifies torture, trashing the Constitution and breaking international law.

This could be a very big development in any future Judiciary committee moves as Arlen was the GOOPs firewall...it's now gone.
