I could see that idiot from Connecticut switching back but then again he'd lose alot of power doing so.

4. I know - why would he want to lose his charimanship, and be in the losing side?

3. Keep an eye out for other party switchers in the coming months.
Susan Collins might switch just to save her job, and Snowe has always been on the edge.

9. What, and lose all his seniority to switch to a party that would hate him
Edited on Tue Apr-28-09 11:20 AM by Occam Bandage
the first time a social-spending or abortion bill came up? Keep in mind Lieberman votes with the Dems 80% of the time.

10. Reverse 1994...
I was expecting this to happen. When the rushpublicans won the House & Senate in '94 several Democrats...Ben Nighthorse Campbell and Dick Shelby, most notably, jumped to the GOOP so they could get more clout and play on the "winning team".

There's little fun being a rushpublican today...nothing they propose will see the light of day short of naming a post office and fund raising, especially for Specter, has to be horendous. He's reading the tea leaves...the GOOP has gone off the abyss and he's not going along for the ride.

Joementum's been behaving himself since his little "talking to" by President Obama. He's voted with the caucus on almost every vote I've seen. In the overall scheme of things, this move may just deflate the GOOP filibuster balloon...takes it off the table. While I have little love or trust for Magic Bullet Arlen, I'll take his vote when it comes to cloture.

11. Yep... and what if Specter joins the Blue Dogs
and increases their influence?

Hate to be a doom and gloomer, but I do wonder.

13. Hopefully his friendship with Joe Biden will prevent this but...

he very well could. Personally I hope he turns independant like Jeffords. The PA Dems still won't run anyone against him putting all their money into the Governor race.

14. He will.
With a tent this big and the GOP going down in flames, we're starting to have a two-party system within a single party. This kinda defeats the purpose of having parties at all.

Same shit, different smell.
