2. Exactly
I was listening to a Republican stragegist who practically said if Toomey won the primary, the State would definitely put in a Dem. So Specter was smart to guarantee his win.

4. In that case we would have Toomey as a senator while Spector and the Dem candidate would split
the vote

6. Two Rs and no Dems in the race. That's the implication here if Arlen is the Dem.
Wow, the Rs have figured out a way to hang on to PA. Run a candidate in both parties.

5. After he loses the primary, he may still try that.
PA has closed primaries. The registered Dems will decide who is the candidate. Maybe a lot of moderates will switch parties too, but he can easily lose this one.

9. im pretty sure PA has a rule against that
if you run in the primary and lose, you arent allowed to run as an independent...

could be wrong.

its fine if u wanna run independent... but you cant run in a party primary in the same election before doing so... not in PA atleast.

11. No you're correct
He can't run as an independent if he loses the primary because it's closed.
