Now People In Both Parties Mistrust Specter.........
that's my second observation. My first was - if you can't beat'em - join'em. My third was - as fast as he switched from Repug to Dem - after he wins - he can switch back.

My forth observation was - I wonder if any other Repugs will follow suit? If they like Specter - want to save themselves - they may go where the political wind is blowing and switch as well. Who might be other potential possibilities?

The Repug party is imploding. BushCo brought it down to its knees and since the election - they've done more damage to themselves because of lack of any direction/platform. The American people are seeing them for what they are.

It seems to me that if there are other Repugs out there that really care about this country - their only option is - to join in the effort to bring this country back from the brink that BushCo took us. There will be plenty of time after we're sound again to have Repug leaders emerge again and try to revive the party.

As for now - as Obama says - there are no red states and blues states - there are only the United States. This is how all in Congress should look at this situation right now. If the Repugs don't get it after this switch by Specter - they are never going to get it and they are doomed.

1. The repukes are imploding.
This deal is good for two year, with no future guarantees. If he screws over the Dems, he will be left without cash for his re-election AND a Democratic challenger in the Primary.

That is the key. The Dems own him now. After 2010, the Dems will pick up more seats in the Senate, and he won't be as important, so it matters less about what he does after 2010.
