Weasel words like "two steps short" "could" "might" etc

For instance:
Pickle intake might be related to Arlen Specter switching parties during this time of public peril since we are two steps short of a full pandemic.

ARGHH!!!!

I REALLY wish media would not put out reports with weasel words in them since, with enough qualifiers, you can write anything and have it be technically true but in actuality mean absolutely nothing.
