I was laid off from my job last year and mine and my college age daughter's health benefits run out May 1st. I was looking forward to benefiting from the Stimulus Bill's reduced COBRA payments. My wife and I found out today I am not eligible because I can go on her plan. The problem is, her plan is just as expensive as the non-reduced COBRA. So why did they pass this plan? It does not help out the average working class family because most of those households have 2 wage earners and if they are lucky, both have a health care plan. So, who is this plan helping? The single wage earner family or the single person? I worked hard campaigning for Obama and I am proud of it but this is not the change I thought we were getting. Now, more than ever is the time for a Universal Health Care Plan, preferably a Single Payer Plan. I will be copying this post and send it to my Congressman and Senators. Also to the Ed Schultz's, Keith Olberman's and Rachel Maddow's shows on MSNBC.
