As a Coast to Coast fan, I'm so ashamed of George Noory
Edited on Tue Apr-28-09 06:13 PM by Mike 03
Last night on his Swine Flu special he had two really obvious experts on infectious disease to spew their revelations about the current situation.

Who else would you get but Alex Jones and Steve Quayle. Excellent. They spent a couple hours explaining how this new strain was engineered in a lab and is a dry run test by the governments (or One World Government, even beyond the Presidency, of course) to wipe out half the population.

I yearn for the old days of Art Bell. He would never supplicate to idiots like these over something as important as this issue.

It was fucking shameful.

Get somebody from the W.H.O. or the C.D.C., or at the very, very least a physician from a reputable insitution who specializes in the transmutation and transmission of infectious disease.

You want to talk about fearmongering? This was fearmongering at its most ignorant and despicable.

Oh and be sure to avoid those flu shots. They'll kill ya just as sure as they cause autism. And Skull and Bones and the Masons are sure as hell involved...

 Alex Jones is just creepy though.

3. I miss Art Bell too.
I hardly ever tune in to Coast 2 Coast anymore. I've never really liked George Noory.

4. George Noory is there to make Glenn Beck look sane...
Art Bell was much better being tongue firmly planted in cheek.

My favorite bit; The Anti-Christ line.

5. You knew Art was just rolling his eyes sometimes.
Noory isn't Art by a long shot.

11. Art's a very smart man, and always managed to keep a straight face
(as much as that can be done on the radio) when the crazies came on. If you listened to him long enough, you could tell when he was REALLY skeptical about somebody, but he was always polite and treated his guests with respect, even if he felt the need to challenge what they said.

18. It was something in his inflection, or a pause dramatic...
but his regular listeners always knew when Art thought that his guest was just a tad loonie.

I do miss Art, though. He is one of a kind, and a great entertainer.

6. Noory is awful
He can't decide if he wants to have a paranormal show or just another right-wing blabathon. Bringing on Alex Jones splits the difference, I guess.

He also puts way too much stock in that ding-dong Richard Hoagland.

Worst of all, he seems to just go through the motions. He doesn't have Art Bell's sense of mischief or even Whitley Strieber's off-kilter sense of wonder.

12. Hey, Richard Hoagland is entertaining. And you always know his theories
are utter crap, but he's personable.

I really miss Art Bell.

15. Hoagland is a fraud
He bills himself as a scientific authority, but his sole credential is having run a small science museum in Springfield, Mass in his early 20s. Somehow, he parlayed that into a radio gig during the Apollo landings, and the self-promotion ran amuck after that.

7. I was in my car in a gully-washer of a rainstorm.
My satellite radio went out so I switched to AM radio to try to find out how severe and widespread this storm was.

I clicked on the local news station and heard that crazy shit come out of my radio.

I couldn't believe my ears.

9. George Noory is an embarrassment. And I agree, Art Bell would have
REAL experts on and be getting at the REAL facts in a calm, completely dignified way. Noory is dumber than a box of rocks and buys into every crackpot idea out there.

Holey moley, I am a huge conspiracy theorist (so I am told) and even I wouldn't go that far out on a limb without more data.

14. I love C2C when it was Art Bell
Bell seemed to have fun at the mic, and asked cool questions. It was exactly what it sounded like - a radio show that went bump in the night.

Noory can't even keep the website full of whack photographs. Half the submissions now are fan art picturing Noory's mug peeping out of the window of flying saucer. It's just ego shots in the dark now, all about George.

17. I was an avid Coast to Coast listener in the 1990's
Edited on Tue Apr-28-09 06:46 PM by CreekDog
once while i was camping, they had a show about carnivorous ghosts . ridiculous as it sounds, it caused me lots of nightmares (about ghosts coming into my camper and trying to eat me ).

that same trip, there was an hour devoted to some guy who claimed to have found a bottomless "hole". :wtf: he said he dropped numerous things in there and never heard them land . he then confirmed the "bottomless" part by saying he lowered something on a string and no matter how much string he unreeled, it always stayed taut. he was going good for a while until one caller said, "wouldn't the weight of the string in a deep (but not bottomless hole) do the same thing?" to which Art Bell said, "you have to admit he has a point there." and the rest of the interview, the guy seemed kind of deflated .

the show was at its best when it was campy and you could never tell if it was serious or not (likely not). like when that guy called Art and said he was flying his airplane over Area 51 and Art said, "you better get out of there" and the guy just kept going until his line went dead...

ummmm, yeah.

the good old days.

21. Sounds like my kids...
We loved being scared by C2C... my middle kid has a photo on the website... I bought him a camera and he was in the bathroom taking a picture of his open mouth in the mirror... when we developed the film, OJ Simpson was in his mouth! I kid you not!

My kid swallowed OJ!

22. I loved "Ghost to Ghost" at Halloween
and the prediction shows on/near New Years were pretty good too. My fave bit was the Time Traveler who would show up from time to time. But when Art left, I stopped listening.

and I thought, oh shit Art Bell's gotten to Prince! But it turns out it was only Dick Gregory. Oy. Prince is nuttier than ever, BTW. That Jehovah's Witness stuff is doing a number.
