Photo Op Panic: 911 Calls Reveal Terror During NYC Air Force 1 Flyover
Source: abcnews.com

"The flight of a VC-25 aircraft (the military version of the 747) and F-16 fighters this morning was authorized by the FAA for the vicinity of the Statue of Liberty with directives to local authorities not to disclose information about it but to direct any inquiries to the FAA Air Traffic Security Coordinator," police said. ....

Witness Says People 'Running Scared'
Other officials noted that they were led to believe the flight would be limited to the area near the Statue of Liberty, however the flight pattern was above a much larger portion of New York and at an extremely low altitude. ....

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer said the flyover "borders on being cruel or very, very stupid." .....

Later, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that President Obama ordered that Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina conduct an internal review, which will take a couple of weeks to complete....

The Air Force has estimated the cost of the flyover at $328,000. I assume that is the direct cost, not taking into account such things as loss of time and the disruption in NY and NJ.

Wouldn't photoshop been much cheaper, not to mention less scary?

The Department of Defense has no regard for taxpayer dollars. Then again, why would it?

1. Rats in the corn, again.
On Mourning Joe, Valarie Jarrett said that Pres. Obama was "furious" when he learned of the flyover.

What is going on here and who *really* is responsible?

This should never have been allowed to happen. Never.

3. .....
after the last eight years, my gut reaction on this is that somebody wanted to
remind people of 9/11. Maybe the same folks defending the use of torture.
just need to remind the little people what terrorist do.

if it was purely accidental, then these people are out to lunch and should be fired for that reason alone.

4. This Caldera clown
who arranged this flight ran the failed bank IndyMac...Fire his ass!

Also I have heard this...One of the F-16's escorting AF-1 is from the Alabama NG and has the "Red-Tail" insignia...That is the Tuskegee Airmen marking...Now George Lucas is making a film about them
called "Red Tails"...IF (and thats a big IF) the F-16 was in fact a red-tail, seems really odd a F-16 from all the way down in 'Bama would be used...Putting two-and-two together I wonder if this "photo-op" was all about getting some footage(something you cant do with photoshop) for this movie...Gross abuse of Fed resources if you ask me.

5. On the TODAY Show this morning, they said that this started out as a training mission, but
turned into a photo op to get a new photo for "Obama's" website. (I assume they mean whitehouse.gov)

If the Today Show is accurate on this. wouldn't SOMEONE on Obama's staff been involved in that? Doesn't seem as though the Air Force, the FCC or the Department of Defense would be in charge of the President's website.

No matter what the purpose of the photos was, I have a feeling they are not going to be used.

6. The cost was over $300,000 as well.
Someone's head should roll for this boneheaded stunt.
