House approves $3.44 trillion budget resolution

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The House of Representatives passed a $3.44 trillion budget resolution for fiscal year 2010 Wednesday, approving most of President Obama's key spending priorities and setting the federal government in a new direction with major increases for energy, education and health care programs.

The resolution, which was approved by a vote of 233 to 193, passed in a virtual party-line vote. All but 17 House Democrats supported it, and no House Republicans voted in favor.

The measure passed two days after congressional Democrats reached an agreement reconciling earlier House and Senate versions of the budget package. The Senate is also expected to approve final passage of the compromise measure on Wednesday, Obama's 100th day in office.

"Today, for the first time in many, many years, we have a president's budget ... that is a statement of our national values," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, said during the final debate on the House floor.

I'd love to know which Democrats voted against it.

Clearly, the GOPigs are uneducable. They're just dug in and they will not be moved.

They are unbelievable, aren't they?

6. Didnt it usually take a lot longer to pass a budget? I remember
always hearing about continuing resolutions before. Am I confusing things, or is it quite unusual to get a budget in April?

Repukes hate veterans.

Obama's 2010 budget increases VA spending by more than in 30 years.

31. A Small LIst...
We know DK would vote against it...but the number of Blue Dogs are down. Where's Heath Schueler?

I think it's more important that the party was unified...I was more concern with Blue Dogs and Hoyer screwing things up than Boner.

Remember, almost every rushpublican in the house is from a deep red district...they're still chasing after President Obama's birth certificate.

29. The "eggs in one basket" repukes are betting the farm that
everything fails. That is their plan plain and simple.

Then they believe in their utopian fantasy that they can ride in on their very white horse and say to the american public and the Dems, "I told you so".

Sadly, like all their plans, they fail.

While they continue to paint themselves as the party of "no" or as I like to call them, the donner party (because like like to feed on each other), they are putting themselves in harms way by taking this stand.

I believe that the 2010 election will go down in history as the republican massacre. They will have effectively shot themselves in the foot with a bazooka, not to return to the political landscape in any sort of viable form for at least 3 to 4 presidential election cycles.
