Toomey: Despite Party Shift, Specter May Not Be Democratic Nominee
Former Congressman Pat Toomey -- the conservative who was set to challenge Sen. Arlen Specter in next year's Senate Republican primary -- called Specter's party switch a "betrayal" Wednesday and suggested he's lost the trust of Pennsylvania voters.

Sen. Arlen Specter has lost the trust of Pennsylvania voters after his "betrayal," Former Rep. Pat Toomey told FOX News on Wednesday, saying he's not even certain the five-time senator will be the Democratic nominee after Specter's self-proclaimed hide-saving party shift on Tuesday.

Toomey, who is now the favorite in the GOP primary, said he's "confident" he can represent the state in the U.S. Senate.

"I'm not sure how much Pennsylvania voters are going to trust him," Toomey said. "He just demonstrated that his political career is more important than those principles."

Toomey was narrowly defeated by Specter in the 2004 Republican primary, but Specter's vote in February to support President Obama's $787 billion stimulus bill helped put him 20 points behind Toomey in Pennsylvania Republican primary voter polls.

8. The Evolution of Madness and Delusion deepens among the NOPers. They are Bullies caught with Lies
Theft, Torture, etc etc ad nauseum

Toomey is correct however, Spector could be defeated in the Dem Primary...esp if he votes pro Pub, but wiser peeps tell us he won't.

Its obv he wouldn't survive as a Pub...meaning the PUB Party is looking rather dismal....so he jumped ship with appro remarks..

Either way...if he wins...we get a DEM confirmed....if he doesn't win the primary...whoever the Dem Nom is...will have higher odds to win the seat...

The GOP needs to get a life...they have soiled their Bed

3. Obama is going to be campaigning all over PA for Specter.
So Toomey shouldn't make any grand plans to move to DC.

4. Pres. Obama carried PA by a hefty percentage
and many Pennsylvanians switched parties from Rep to Dem prior to the election. Toomey is dreaming of a time that never existed. Pennsylvania will not miraculously become right wing extremist.

7. Ha, the comments section under these stories at foxnews.com slay me.
It's the ultimate, distilled, pharmaceutical grade essence of wingnuttery. So strong that it tastes bitter for some reason. :rofl:

The Dems are running scared and they know it. That is why they are trying to run so much fast track policy by the American public while distracting them with bogus issues. They know their days are numbered. Ask the people on the street what they think and you will get an entirely different view from what the mainstream media is telling you. I have yet to meet one person who is happy with what the Obama administration is doing, what they stand for and that includes the ones that voted for him. I have met quite a few people who voted for him and have yet to meet one person who did not regret voting for him.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
