RIGHT NOW is the time for Democrats to Ramp Up Efforts in the Repub Controlled South for 2010...
Once you have a dangerous foe weakened, that is the time to finish the job. Not wait until they slowly regain strength and make the job harder and more costly.

All the Repub Party has left is the South.

We turned them out of NC and VA in the last Presidential Election. We need to strengthen our gains in those states, and move further south into SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, etc.

If people can be motivated to organize and work as hard as 2008 this election season, we might be able to 'turn' these Southern States and place the Republican Party into purgatory for the foreseeable future.

Voters are really suffering and they know who is to blame --the last 8 years of Bush Republicans. They are ready for the change Democrats can bring.

Now is the Time......

1. A_MEN!
Florida went Blue, and that is a big hurdle..we need to keep VA and NC, help drive out the GOP in FL, and let us not forget Louisiana. We will never take the whole south, but we can make sure the GOp cannot depend on it. Southern Democrats UNITE!

2. Given GOP losses ... losing even ONE Southern State is critical for the GOP in the future...
We should not forget the damage the Republican Party did to our country, and we need to bring the South onboard with the progressive Democratic agenda.

It would be time, and money, well-spent. We need to increase our reach in 2010 --NOT just play defense trying to hold on to what we won in 2008.

Given the large minority populations in states like Mississippi and Georgia, there's a great chance the Good 'Ole Boy Club could be stomped but good. Today's GOP only wants white, ultra-conservative christians...surely there's enough "nons" to wipe them out electorally... But we need to get those voters to the polls

5. Removing barriers to voter registration and voting are a large part of the job...
There are a lot of conservative fundamentalists who are quite disillusioned with the 8 years of Bush, and they are turning more apolitical. This saps strength from the Dobson/Perkins influence.

We stand an excellent chance of ousting some longtime Repub Reps if we work hard. That would bear fruit in the future.

Obama Organization Returning to SC in May with Staff and Offices, Hiring Now
Organizing for America is preparing to hire staff and open permanent office(s) in South Carolina in May. During May there will be a “listening tour” throughout the state to engage and prepare to reactivate the Obama Organization in South Carolina as a permanent presence to support the President’s agenda starting with healthcare, energy and education. Following the listening tour, a four month project to support the President’s Health Care Agenda will begin, including some new methods which will connect South Carolinians with opportunities to improve their access to adequate care using programs already put in place by the administration which the SC State Government has neglected to promote as being available to residents.

They’re selecting professional staff now and welcome resumes from committed community organizers.
